OK - so this is related to the mobile app. If it's installed on a phone and enabled it pings the site pretty regularly to the location of the the last login (which is almost always the welcome PM).

I tried a couple time to pm a guy that asked a question about my bus. He never messaged back and the messages I sent don't show up in my sent box.

Thanks, that feature had been enabled in the past, I checked it and it was not.
