Pictures not displaying

I am not able to see pictures. Tried FF GC and IE on 2 machines, on 2 networks. Is this an issue or am I just having bad luck?

You need to use a host site like Photobucket.

Then post the links here and they will work.

Do Not try to upload them to this site.

There is something weird going on, I can see pictures hosted off site, the "attachment" pictures are just blank though

No matter if this site allows pics to be hosted or not, it's a bad idea.

What's happening now is a perfect example of why.

Hosting sites are more reliable.

Everytime something happens to the server that provides this site, you risk loosing your pics.

Everytime the site gets moved, you risk loosing your pics.

Hosting them here slows down the entire site for everyone.

And the list go's on and on.

I'm surprised the admin even allows pics to be uploaded to this site. If I was the head admin, I would turn that feature off.

You can add images as attachments and they should display. We would actually prefer that you do that as often image hosting services remove stale images or if the links change they are no longer available. Please let me knwo if your still having trouble.

Yes you can add images but sometimes they show up and sometimes they don't. The attached thumbnails in blue is the only thing that you see.

If images are not displaying please let me know. They should be working but if you have a slow internet connection they are sometimes slow to load.

I have Comcast cable for internet. It's not because of speed. Sometimes they just aren't there. I figured the puter wasn't feeling good.

I've run into this too, but then later they show up. I think it may be some server side processing that has to complete?

It probably is reading the meta data saying what orientation your camera was in. Part of the reason I suspect laggy processing.

I pay for my photobucket once a year.

No pics get deleted.

I have yet to see a forum like this one that has reliable pic hosting. That's why I use a specialized pic hosting site.

Yes, you pay for hosting but I have seen hundreds of instances where some one lets their hosting subscription lapse and valuable images are no longer available. This is especially a problem on sites where folks are depending on those images for restoration help.

We have extremely reliable image hosting - it's housed on our servers rgiht along the rest of the forum content BUT we load images to the forum last - after text. This is to keep load speeds fast and in deference to those with slow internet connections. This is the reason that sometimes they don;t show up immediately.

My download speed is currently 33.21 Mbps. I always use Photobucket to post pics. I always have done so in every forum I'm a member of.

It was attached thumbnails from other users that weren't showing up. They are now though, so I don't know what the problem was. I've never had this problem on any other forum either.

Meh. Dunno. It's all good now.

I think Nat is trying to remain diplomatic. One of the mods went apepoop on many of his posts and went crazy with the delete button. I am sure he is angry and rightfully so that many of the pictures that he uploaded were lost.

On the old system, all pictures always displayed within the messages, whether you are logged in or not. If a link was later broken, there would be a placeholder somthing like "photo" where the image had been.

On the new system, I am seeing three classes of images.

- There are some images that appear in the posts even if you are not logged in

- There are some images, like the one that Janet posted, that appear as a file name if you are not logged in, but appear as images after you log in.

- And I suspect there are others that just don't appear. Someone will make a post about their bus that appears as 100% text, and then reply posts will comment about appearance or another visual aspect. That leads me to believe that only some internet software or add-ons can see images in this third class. And as far as I know, the images of this type never do appear later for me.
