Unhappy Update this forum to not use passwords with open text

It's hugely insecure that this forum software has passwords in open text and literally emails them in open text. It bothers the hell out of me every time I have to reset my password as it just makes me cringe.

Agreed!. of course everyone should use a ThrowAway password on any forum they sign up for.. (ie dont use a password that you use for any other thing at all...)

Dishonest BB and website operators can be the easiest way for people's data to be hacked.. as even though you type in your password and it gets sent securely through the airwaves, the software on the site ultimately snags the original PW, hashes it and drops it in a DB table.. its really easy to also store the clear text version of it.....
