1995 Amtran Genesis Factory Radio Pinout (PA System)

Hoping someone here can help me with the pin out of the factory radio plug that sits inside the "Exterior Light Monitor" above the drivers seat.

I am really just looking to ID the speaker wires (it maybe part of the PA system) so I can use my factory installed speakers. The bus has like 8 30w speakers with a volume knob. If I could find the wires I easily hook up a little Lepai 2020 amp and jam out with while doing the conversion.

You could use a 9 volt battery to ID the wiring.

When you do find the corresponding speaker wire, use the battery to confirm polarity. The speaker should move outward wired correctly. If wired backward, it will not sound as good as it could.

On my 2000 AmTran I had to bypass the entire PA system, the harness and go direct to the from the speaker wires to the radio. It's pretty easy to determine the always hot, switched hot and ground via a volt meter or perhaps a test lamp. Once you bypass all the PA system stuff that removes some of the extra wires. At least on my bus the radio itself was modified for the PA System to work. Unfortunately there is no easy way for the bus PA system to work with a regular radio. At least not the way my bus radio was set up. I was disappointed.

This is not a sarcastic suggestion: try Crutchfield. They know _everything_ about car radios, including the ones that would drive a PA inside a bus. And they are super helpful. Just have a make and model when you call up. www.crutchfield.com

Just in case someone every finds this thread one day, I figured out the wiring, Gray and Blue wires 41-44 are the speaker leads, white ground, black 40 is ACC, unmarked black is hot 12V.

Attached is a diagram for a 99 Amtran same on my 95.

If I ever replace my factory cassette player I will check and see if it's the same in my 02 bluebird
