6.5 turbo bus

Anyone know how hard it'd be to find a turbocharged 6.5 Diesel Chevy mini bus? For the price, I'd probably be better off with a larger (full size bus), but then I'd have to worry about air brakes, even though a mini bus is a bit small for me.

Not all full size buses have air brakes...

Air brakes are awesome. Except when you need to tow your bus and the motor doesn't run, then you need to put air in them via something else.

Re: 6.5 turbo bus

I know not all have them, and IMHO, they are the safest brakes out there, but I cannot find a definitive answer on what PA requires for them. And, not being able to drive air brake-equipped vehicles would limit the avialability, but I do plan to get a CDL in the future.

No, you just need to put caging bolts in them to disable the spring brakes before towing.

I don't think there was such a thing in a van body for a chevy 6.5 turbo. I thought the turbo was only on the trucks. The vans that I know of had a 6.5 but no turbo. I could be wrong though.

Re: 6.5 turbo bus

I'm pretty sure they made turbo vans, with a center-mounted turbo, like the Hummer H1. Might not have though. Even an N/A would be good though. Little less power, but more than makes up for it with fuel milage. I'd love to find a larger bus and drop a 6.2/6.5 in it.

Sorry for the (very) slow reply. My internet access isn't the most reliable.

Why you ask? Because they aren't terrible. I love them. I have a 1994 Chevy K1500 with a 6.5 turbo, and I would not hesitate to get another.

On a side note, I have found speak of 6.5 turbocharged bus. So they are out there, I just need to find an affordable one when I'm ready...
