rather than install the heat strips in the camper heatewr a friend of mine just runs a ceramic heater in his RV.. running the fan for the rooftop A/C tends to take in some cold transfer.. form the coild and the casing.. (yes the freon can transfer heat even when the comoressor is off)... you can find ceramic heaters that never reach temperatures high enoiugh for anytbing to catch fire even if its knocked over or a blanket tossed over it..

I used a Milk House Heater in my little 10x20 gambrel roofed cabin over the winter (3/4 un-insulated plywood floor) 4" R-11 insulated walls.
But, I am in Oklahoma... Winters are cold, but not BRUTAL!
2 fire alarms, and 1 carbon monoxide detector since I added an RV Stove/Oven.
