Advantages of layout

Hi! I’m drawing up multiple layouts for a skoolie (haven’t bought one yet), I was wondering why most skoolies are designed with the living room first, then the kitchen. I kinda want my kitchen to be in the front, then a living room. Is there an advantage to having the living room first or is it just sheer preference?

With the kitchen/bath in the middle, you have a major plus with weight distribution.

My layout has kitchen amidships, shotgun side, however my full sized fridge is behind the driver's seat, on the theory it counter weights the fuel tank, and tucks the big beastie in as out of the way as is possible.
When bringing home groceries, perishables can be immediately put up, and I still have about half the body's width to walk thru past it to get towards the back.
Incidentally, I also have a fold up table by the door, for when working directly out of the fridge...

If you are driving places it’s nice to have seating near the driver so the driver has someone to talk to and folks can see the road ahead. Having the living room in front can also make the bus feel more open.

I have a bunch of mechanical stuff under the front, like the diesel tank and battery box, so plumbing a kitchen up front would be much more difficult. That's why I put the kitchen in the middle.
