OK, we're on the same page. Just a question of terminology. I'm used to saying "custom car" and "hot rod" for cars with air ride. To me, "low rider" is specifically the dancing jumping kind. But there is no official distinction. I just have my own habits.

Air ride on custom cars is usually from an outfit called Air Ride Technologies. Might be worthwhile to ask them about duty cycle on their best pump. But... custom cars rarely use leveling valves, because the main point is to change ground clearance at will. So far as I know, it is only very recently that Air Ride Technologies has begun offering leveling valves at all.
It's been a while since I looked at their site. I study this stuff only when I need to for my work.

So.... Yes, probably best to get a used belt drive compressor from a truck. Should be plenty of them out there.

As I see it:

Custom car.

Low rider.

elliot, my bad, you're right it's a terminology/geography thing
yous guys on the left coast do things different than those of us around motor city, not bad just different, i guess that my outlook also dates me as well as racial profiles me, real hotrods are fast black and quiet, the ability to corner is a given.

Paul, I spent time around Detroit in the 1970s, and hung out with some of the folks in the Early Times hot rod club. Some of those guys built hot rods for a living -- for the factories. Much good stuff.

Re: Air Bag Suspension Installation

Elliot,
Lots of "independent contracters and tier 1 suppliers" in the area doing prototype development and application engineering work, that's what brought me here from Florida in the early 90's.
It's amazing what you can get paid to do with the proper skillset, I was involved with prototype engine development and durability testing, lots of exposure to cutting edge technology and people that encourage thinking outside the box while using proven principals and proceedures to develop the future.

I looked at some 12 Volt compressors at a car show recently. The label said 100% duty cycle. The brand was Air Lift. Part number 23480. Pressure up to 200 PSI! Don't know about volume/flow -- but then, I don't know what you would need either. But something you could investigate.

Another 12 Volt compressor brand: Air Zenith. The small one is 200 PSI, 100 % duty cycle, 2.9 CFM. Their largest one doesn't list CFM, but here it is:

Re: Air Bag Suspension Installation

Ya 12V seems like it would be a nice way to go. I am still trying to find some time to work on the suspension. Damn economic boom in Saskatchewan has kept me from doing the things I really want. Sorry cruel joke. But ya it looks like May is my bus month. We plan on getting it done enough to drive it by the end of the summer.I will definately look into these 12V compressors. Thanks.

Re: Air Bag Suspension Installation

Oh, the potash ... ya I am aware of the dealings of Potash Corp. and Mosaic Potash, I don't work for either but it seams like every one else is Sascratchewan does. No flooding, we are in Regina, Lady Franklin is in Manitoba, hope to get her Legal with slide outs, air bag equipped, skin and signal lights by Sept, then bring her into Regina, to work on her so we can live full time as of summer 2011. A little more realistic than our original six month $10,000 budget. Pushing 2 years, at $15,000 and she has no exterior skin yet...
