Aluminum sided bus?

Hi there! I have been obsessing over this forum for years and I have a question:

We're on the verge of driving 9 hours to buy a diesel shuttle to replace our "bacon bus".

Here's the thing: The sides are aluminum.

Is this an issue for alterations in your experience? Our current shuttle has fiberglass sides (a little bit easier to work with in some ways, but heavy as heck).

I know you can't weld aluminum the typical way, but it'd make me happy to know it's doable or a no go before I make the trip.

I appreciate any help/advice you have to give.
