Any idea what this was?

There was one mounted on each side of the lower rear wall of the bus. Before I delete the wiring, I was wondering what it was for, in case I want to re-install it.

To me, wiring always means lights.....and there's always room for more lights.

It must have been something school related if they pulled it off. Kind of low for clearance lights.

I'd prefer a light bar for backup lights. Regular lights just don't perform as well.

Thanks for the insights......I could've posted a bigger pic to start with. I guess I'll agree it must be backup lights, since that's all that seems to be missing........but why would the school remove those, when they left the stop sign on?

I'll keep the wires and look for small backup lights.....I'll be needing some of that area (on the passenger side) to mount my swing-out bike carrier (like the tire carrier I had on my old CJ5), plus I plan on extending the rear bumper 14" to serve as a mini-porch/ladder-to-roof-deck access/tool storage bin. Be better to wait until that's done before figuring out where to mount a light bar.

Well, whatever was on there wasn't heavy- just 2 little screws. Wasn't a camera
by the wire, looks like a light-- like others have said.

The only time sellers remove equipment is:

1) Proprietary tech

2) Was $$--going to reuse/resell

3) Illegal for public- sirens, emergency lights, markings

I say they were LED flashers. They sell some nice, self contained units that have all the electronics inside.

You can hook a meter to the wires and go through the functions to see what switch or motion sends power to them?
Of course with the backup lamp it would be safest to have a helper even with air brakes.

Also in the position that they are in they could have also been license plate lamps?

That's definitely where the booster cables clamp on when in the swamp!
Drive more carefully and you'll never need them.
