Anything special to look for?

I came across a used magic chef 4 burnner stove with oven. The guy will sell it to me with hood all for $50.00 it looks in good shape except the standard grim around the burners on the top. Cover looks good and inside oven is really clean for how long its been sitting. I haven't paid for it yet he was going to test it and see if it worked but didn't have the time. So he told me to take it mess with it if it works come back and pay him if not bring it back. So my question....
When testing this thing out is there anything special to look out for? I know to check leaks and what not but not knowing anything about the stove is there anything on this type stove that is notorious of breaking or not working that I should look for?
I'll try and get a couple pics of it.

The next question would be what would be best to clean it up with. I have read people using high temp paint some do powder coated and have good luck and some have bad luck. I'd just like to clean it up for now anyway.
