APU vs Solar power

Has anyone ever used an auxiliary power unit*(APU) from a semi tractor instead of Solar power?

For the price a nice Onan diesel generator would probably be better in the power Department. If you were hoping to get the climate control, it would be way under sized for a full size bus.

Most of those outboards are leased. Besides, solar power is free = well, almost free.

So he goes my question I don't plan to Boondock. I already have a generator and I'm putting in a 50 amp Shore power. So my question is the only thing I'm missing is the house batteries to complete the electrical system? Or am I missing something else? Yes I need a inverter and a converter.

If you're on the pole you don't need a house battery, converter or inverter. The way it's done now is to use an inverter/charger tied to the house batteries. Then you'd have to figure out how to charge the batteries.
