Battery charging question

Is there a problem with leaving my battery charger connected to my house batteries (two 6v deep cycle batteries wired in series) even when I'm not charging (ie: charger not plugged in to wall)? Currently I have to crack open the battery caps when charging since my batteries are not maintenance free, but when the time comes for new batteries I will seriously consider getting sealed, maintenance free batteries and if I could eliminate the extra step of connecting the charger, then I wouldn't have to even open up the battery closet, just throw a switch and I'm charging.

Re: Battery charging question

If you have a smart charger (3 stage) then it should be shutting down to a float charge.
