blower motors

I was wondering if anyone here has had the pleasure of replacing a blower motor in a BlueBird. My front drivers side is sounding something awful !! Today I removed all dash metal from left to right and before I went any further I thought I would probe for some insight.

Can you remove the blower by just removing the lower side panel or do you think I will have to tear the whole left area apart ( all around the wiring YUCK !!)

If it would help I post some pics let me know.

Thanks in advance for all your input.

I'd say a picture may help since there is a few different set ups.
And is it a defroster blower or is it the drivers blower by the feet.

If it is like my 92 international convetional the blower down by the feet looks like it can be removed by taking off the panel and you will see the motor there which you should be able to match one up at a auto parts store.

I had just tore mine apart so I can run bolts down through the floor for my fresh water tank. I have my heater core off to the side still and everything under it is exposed. I'll go and tak a picture.

The defroster blower looks as if it might be a bit more work to get at.

defroster blower

The blower that is giving me the problem is the defroster blower. Which looks to be the harder one for sure. Ill take pics of my progress but I need it done as it is essential to be able to see when going down the road with 20 plus bodies putting out humidity !

blower motors

If they aren't howling too bad I drill a tiny hole in the back bubble where the bearing is and put a few drops of oil in there and then put a few more where the front bearing is by the fan blade. works pretty good. On my flat nosed BB I pulled the right panel that the headlights are mounted in and had access to the blower motors. sportyrick
