Book recommendations

Hi again! Seeing as this is a long term project, I figure I should work on collecting myself a small library of things I'll need to know.

I know cars have manuals to build and rebuild from scratch, I found a haynes manual on amazon for cummins engine rebuilds, but it was for trucks, is it applicable to the ones in buses? I know it's a bit more in depth than something like building a computer, but if I have clear instructions I'm pretty good at putting things together. I was thinking about maybe buying a pos car to do a complete rebuild on for practice.

I want to also know a lot about electrical - both solar setups and home wiring, grey/black water systems and plumbing in general (sharkbite good?). I think that's all the major stuff I'm clueless on, but if you think I'm missing something please make recommendations!

The information you seek is here, but since this isn't a database you're going to have to get the information more slowly by reading and asking questions. If you're working your way through your project the information comes at just the right speed.

Welcome Dianne to the site and crazy bus world.

Nice to see your enthusiasm and willingness to learn. If you get correct info from the beginning whether basic electrical ac and dc, mechanical, plumbing the learning curve is much simpler.
All these aspects have their own basics to grasp as do diesel engines compared to gas internal combustion engines.
Your local library might b as good as any place to start, followed by the internet doing searches of specifics you might want/need to understand.
Most situations here are not well explained and confuse a lot of us that have some clue.
That Cummins book would be invaluable reading and reference but you may well never own one.Principles and practices are mostly the same no matter which diesel you encounter.

That's a start so enjoy the ride.

For electrical.
I like a book called
Operating,upgrading and managing 12v systems by HAROLD BARRE.
It covers the basics of a 12v system. How to design it with all the basic calculations for appliances including wind and solar.
And another that you can find on this site is a post from MIKE SOKUL that discusses grounding a full metal bus properly.
I don't have the link anymore?
Hopefully another good member here still does and would share.
It is a must read.
