bus toterhome

Hi; I,ve been on this site for a while and haven,t found much on converting a schoolie to use as a toterhome for use as an enclosed car hauler/ rv. My plan is to use one to haul my nostalgia gasser dragracer to events around north america. Any pic,s or info much appreciated. thanks in advance. Steve

This is a picture of the back wall of our bus out, after the 30" roof raise

This is a picture of the stock rear end. The space surrounded by the reflective tape is approximately 7.5' wide by 4.5' tall. In my bus there is 26' behind the driver seat and I believe approximately 10' behind the wheel well.

Re: bus toterhome

Thanks; I,ve been watching your build. don,t plan on doing a roof raise but the rear ramping ideas are what interest me. I don,t have a bus yet but scrapped a trailer last fall and got cabinets, bathroom and windows etc. also have windows and seats out of a van I scrapped a few years ago. I used to live in your neck of the woods many years ago. Small world '''EH''. Take care and good luck on your build. Steve

Re: bus toterhome

Welcome Rusty!
I used a cube van as a camper/race car hauler. Granted its a small race car...
I had the floor built over the wheel arches + beaver-tailed from the arch back. I had long oak ramps and a winch (superwinch-with a cordless remote which I HIGHLY recommend.) I was able to use the roll up door-but I always had a wet dream of making a light weight flip up door that would act as an awning (I always had an Ez-up set up). The front of the box was a small living area. Using bigger bus you should have plenty of options.

Put up some pics of your race car! Former drag racer here (bikes) but still work in the trade.
