Captain Seat's... and junk yard diving.
Those of you that have added captain's chairs to the front of your bus for both passenger and driver, what brand/model did you get. I'm thinking the easiest is to go junk yard diving until I find a model of mini van/SUV/truck seat that I like. That's a fair amount of wandering tho. If there are some I should avoid or look for in particular that would be good to know.
If/when I find one, I'll get them from a vehicle that blew an engine instead of a wrecked one just so it hasn't seen a lot of stress.

Grab an air ride seat out of a big rig for yourself, and rig up a creative solution for a passenger seat.
Air ride seats make a huge difference.

I've got air already tho I wouldn't mind changing out the seat itself. There's no left arm rest; just a foam pad bolted to the wall.

I've had a few back injuries over the years & there are 2 seats that i have noticed that fit me good.
1. Captain chairs from Ford vans/ Class C Rv's, The ones I had in my class c plus have in my 67 F250 are great plus have 2 armrest.
2.The buckets that were in my BMW Z3, I could drive that car all day & my back never felt it
Unfortunately no armrest.

You can get a nice brand new air ride seat for 500-600, I'd bet you can get a good one for a couple hundo slightly used.
If you can get ahold of One Nation Under Goat and get pics of their fold down passenger seat, its by far the most innovative and awesome design I've seen.
I rode in it a little bit and it was really cool riding up front on the passenger side.
If you make a folding/removable cover for the stairs, you can cut down on a lot of noise and have a nice spot for passenger's feet too.

I bought 2 ford conversion van seats. Van had quad captains seats. Of course the driver and passenger seats were worn out. The second row seats were awesome so I just used a saw all to cut the door side arm rest off. Works and looks good. Can't even tell I cut them.

No worries, the bases of the truck/bus drivers seats are easy enough. Just 4 bolts. You may have to offset it a bit to fit with both armrests, the drivers seat on both my buses are right up against the side of the bus and I'd have to them to the right a bit to fit an armrest on the left side.

My offer to let her dad make a seat like that, for me, still stands. I never did have any luck designing a passenger seat that swiveled from a pole, and this design is still a fav. of mine.

Thx. Plenty of those in the yards. Too new or too old is what I'd worry about especially from the yard that is closest to me. They don't seem to do a lot of high end stuff.

At this point (in my future bus) I'm not as worried about a passenger seat failing, as I am my toilet flying through the air with a weeks worth of "leavings" in it! Maybe someone will put their pooper under the passenger seat, and dual purpose that space.
As of now, I'm wiping my hands of this.(lol)

Never looked at the RV ones up close but the house ones have two bolts holding them to the floor. As long as you don't have a water tank (composting), you should be good as long as your co-pilot isn't testing the brakes while you're in there.
Dual purpose would be nice as the gf is always complaining that she almost peed herself when I take a hard corner.
