Charging batteries while hooked to inverter

I have currently one large deep cycle battery and one 1100w inverter. Can I leave the inverter hooked up and powered on and in use while I charge the battery with a regular maintenance-free mode charger hooked to the generator?

Ok good, just making sure I wasn't gonna blow up my inverter!

I should have mentioned before, especially if you will be using the setup long term,
Refer to the inverters manual, it will probably want you to put a 60 to 80 amp fuse or breaker on the positive wire that feeds the inverter from the battery,

It may have other advice or requirements on how to safely charge while discharging specific to your inverter.

It didn't mention anything about charging while using, but the inverter I got came with 4awg cables and a fuse already on the positive cable.
