Cheap cold rolled sheetmetal in Houston

Howdy All --- well, after looking all over for cold rolled I just found out a drinking buddy here has a heck of a deal on a stack of 16 gauge 4' x 10' sheets that he will sell for $40 bucks a sheet. Perfect for most any body work. He runs a ductwork shop called Modern Alchemy that is at 3225 North Fwy., just inside the loop. Phone is 713.225.0001...ask for Gary and mention the Skoolie Forum. These are "while they last" so if you are looking for a deal on cold rolled sheets, better act fast. He also has SS, galvanized and black iron at better than steel supply prices.

PS...he can also shear to whatever size needed. Heck of a deal.

16 gauge cold rolled sheets for $40. I don't know metal prices that well, but that makes me drool a bit. I paid $65 a sheet for 18 gauge galvannealed and another $35 to have em all cut. If I were 2000 miles closer I would be all over this. I don't even need the metal and I want it anyway!

That sounds like one heck of a deal Tango. I'm going to give that guy a call. If I use it to repair the holes in my floor do I need to coat it with something to keep it from rusting under the bus where it will be exposed to the elements?

Thanks Tango. I believe I will give him a call myself. That is a helluva deal.

A deal indeed. And I just found out he is also getting a big load of 14 gauge in. Perfect for my next project which is a through the body electrical box.
