Chrome Wheel Dress-up

So I'm thinking I want my wheels to be chrome or stainless steel looking. I think it'll make a big difference to the look of my bus.

With 22-24" wheels you can't exactly swing by the local auto parts store for some plastic hub caps.

I'm looking at "wheel simulators" made for semi trucks like these:
http://www.bigrigchromeshop.com/Merchan ... /CTGY/UEWA
http://www.virgofleet.com/search_output_two.asp
http://www.uatparts.com/miva/merchant.m ... SIMULATORS

But they AIN'T cheap! So I don't want to buy anything that will look like crap, not fit, fall off or just rust in a year (or less). So I'm looking for suggestions from people who have done something similar.

I haven't actually measured my wheels or counted the lugs either, so I'm just guessing these simulators would fit.

Re: Chrome Wheel Dress-up

my bus came with the simulators on them. not bad but another thing to deal with when you blow a wheel or need to change one. Im thinking ill go with the chrome or silver spray paint myself. (when the time comes :P )

Re: Chrome Wheel Dress-up

bunedoggle,

I painted the wheels the same color as the bus and then went with the chrome hub and nut covers...not quite as nice as the full wheel covers, but a cheap alternative that I think looks nice and dresses up the bus a bit.

Re: Chrome Wheel Dress-up

I'm going to assume your Thomas has the same wheels as was on mine, which are 22.5. You'll need a couple other items to order them. Look at the data tag above the drivers seat, it should tell you the rim width, which I believe are 7.5" and NOT the 8.25" (this is important, it will determine if they will actually fit the wheel depth wise). You're wheels are likely to be "2 Hand Holes" which are the open voids in the rim, you'll find most of them have more than 2 hand holes.

We sell them to our truck customers. We buy them from a company called
Prime Industries in Va Beach, you might be able to get them cheaper directly from these people...
