Clear Coating Paint (on a budget)

So I have this ragbrai bus that we painted a mural on using brush paint. Spray was not an option due to the detail work and out low low budget. After hours working on this thing we'd like to clear coat it so it will last more than 6 months. Unfortunately, the spray on clear coat that costs 5 bucks for a little can at lowes I fear would take 20-30 cans to make any difference on the bus.

Is there a spray on clear coat that is cheap (we don't have access to a paint sprayer) or a good brush on clear coat? I know brush on clear coat supposidely looks bad, but this is over a brush on paint job, so I can't think it'd be that horrible.

You can look at the paint job here. http://www.teamroadshow.com/gallery/vie ... us&page=11 Look at the last pages. (pages 11 and 12)

Any help would be great. Thanks.

i think you're gonna have to spray the clear coat. You can buy a spray gun for under $50.00 if you already have an air compressor. Otherwise, you'll have to search for a friend who already has a spray gun.

i was able to find a gallon for $55.00 at the automotive paint store. That was enough to do the entire bus from the windows down.

Seager if you have an aircompressor I can let you borrow one of my guns if you keep it clean. And you can get that battery charger at the same time
