I can't help you with the 5.9 mods but I would recommend an egt gauge. Keep an eye on the exhaust temp especially when you are in the boost and pulling a long grade.
From what I've read, if the 5.9 is anything like the 8.3 I have, you can mod it a bit before things get into the danger zone.

I think you might be wisest to go to a Cummins forum about this. I think you might find more useable info.

If you check out the Mechanical and drivelines there is a post on more power they have some good info there.
