I am in the process of taking the ceiling panels down. I have removed all of the rivets from both ends of one of the ceiling panels. I ground/cut an X in the rivets then knocked them off with a hammer and chisel.
At the bottom of the panels, above the windows, is a strip that goes the length of the bus. All of the rivets are just the rounded side (they don't have a pin in them). Except for the one rivet that is at the top of the window where the ceiling panel seam comes down.
So I ground off that one reversed rivet, thinking that it might be holding this long strip onto the ceiling panels.
But it looks like this strip is attached to the bottom of the ceiling panels.
So I cut apart the panel so I could see what it looked like underneith.
It looks strip is folded around the bottom of the ceiling panel, and then the back side of it folds back and lays down on top of the windows.
In this picture I cut off the front fold of the strip - the part that is over the bottom of the ceiling panels. What you see here is the back fold of the strip that lays back into the wall above the windows.
I'm afraid that maybe this strip is holding the windows in.
Is it holding the windows in? Should I take this strip out?
