Do your water tanks sweat?

Hi all. I was wondering if those folks who have their polyethylene or ABS water tanks installed inside the bus can answer me this: do the exterior of the tanks sweat and thus drip water in hot weather? I'm wondering if it's worth putting a drip tray under the tanks that drains outside the bus. I have a lead on a cheap stainless tank which should have a drip tray, but I also have a poly tank.

Re: Do your water tanks sweat?

My 35 gallon tank is under the bed and has never shown any condensation. I would think you'd have to have fairly cold water on a hot, humid day to get any condensation. You might get a bit of sweating after filling your tank with cold tap water on a warm day but I would think it would go away as the water warms up.

Roach, that puts a whole new spin on bed wetter Seriously, I have to admit the question is a good one. When I read it I was reminded how easy it is to overlook a potential problem like tank sweat. It is so dry here that I would never have even considered condensation--freezing yes dripping no. I suppose that a thin layer of foam sheeting like our Chinese brothern like to wrap things in would be enough to stop the water tank from sweating in a humid environment. After all, thats what 711 does with their ice tea cups and it seems to work.

Re: Do your water tanks sweat?

My tanks only sweat during a hard workout. Wait, what am I talking about, I don't have tanks installed yet. I would have some kind of tray with some spounges to soak up the water.

Re: Do your water tanks sweat?

Yes any tanks of cold ground water sweat and drip badly. Even the pex cold lines in the basement of our house sweat and drip if they don't have the foam insulators on them.

Just to be sure it sticks making full contact, I would do a inch of spray foam.
