Driving without a tire in back????

So, we are heading off for a big trip into Mexico and were just told that if in fact, one of our tires gets a flat (guaranteed where we are going), that it would be possible to drive a short distance, very slowly, without one of those tires. Like drive it to get to a llantera or tire shop. What do you guys think of that?

Second question, we were advised by the intelligent skoolie community that we need a 12 ton jack to lift the bus - what does everybody think of a six ton jack? Aren't we just raising up one corner?

Re: Driving without a tire in back????

it depends on what type of wheels you have, dayton-centerless wheels are attacched with wedges and clamps, you would need to install an empty wheel to clamp the good tire on so why not just carry a spare, it doesn't need to be a good highway tire, a roller or maypop would ork to get you to help.
a 6 or 8 ton jack will have sufficient capacity to lift a skoolie, but the 12 tons are generaly a lot beefier and have a larger more stable base.
