Find the plate in both your bus and the donor vehicle and match the load capacities. That is the biggest thing I can tell you. I think one from a similar chassis should be fine, but it probably wouldn't hurt to double check the spring pad widths. You can always move them if you have to of course, but it's kind of a pain to get them both exactly correct. Also, be sure the donor axle has the same type of brakes. Obviously swapping hydraulic to air would be a pain, but there's other things to look for as well. Axles are all basically the same just because there are only a few axle makers out there that supplied the medium duty truck industry (Meritor, Dana-Spicer, Rockwell, and Marmon-Herrington come to mind), but the braking systems would vary. I'm not sure what parking brake your bus has or how adaptable other systems are, but I think it would pay to make sure you get the right one.

Boy I sound negative.... I don't mean to be. I really don't think the axle swap will be hard to do or find. Just want you to find the right part the first time. I know lots of guys I fourwheel with that are happy to buy something that's *almost* the right part and then try and make it work, but when all is said and done, getting the right part the first time is easier and cheaper usually.
