Exclamation Evacuating Florida from Hurricane Irma

I was just wondering who is leaving Florida in their buses and or RV to get away from hurricane Irma. I was hoping to get some help on finding some info on campgrounds for skoolie in Georgia or South Alabama.

Truck stops are much cheaper than campgrounds, and a lot less picky.
I'm like 70 miles inland, and don't have homeowners ins so I'll be guarding my place.
I live in town, about three blocks from the armory, so I should be good.

Here is the Tuesday map. Irma looks pissed.

Stay safe.

I live in Wakulla County just south Tallahassee. I have a bad filling that the storm will come right up between Perry and Apalachicola. And everybody I've talked to said they are evacuating.

My friends in the US Virgin Islands are just getting the outer bands now... my heart is broken for them.

Me... I'm in friggin' Mozambique, so more than 8000 miles from my bus, sigh. Up until this morning, I wasn't worried, since it looked like it was going to be a west coast issue, but this morning's 5 am advisory has it cutting across the state right over my town! So, Plan B... watch the storm through Friday morning and my daughter, son in law and son will go northwest towards my moms (21 miles west of Gainesville) if need be... and further, if they have to... I advised them to take US27 north, since the interstates will be like parking lots.

Hoping for the best for all of us!

Sandi

We are near Dade City and have three acres. The bus currently has the walls and ceiling removed so if I have to evacuate it won't be in the bus. We will be in the Jeep pulling a trailer behind it. We have plenty of stores though so unless it gets really unsafe we are staying put.

Hopefully by the time it reaches Pasco Co., it will have lost some of it's punch... gotta get that bus back together to come hang out with us in 3.5 weeks!

My people (and my boat!) are in Tampa, latest models suggest the storm will stay east and ruin Miami instead of Tampa. That would be good for me, bad for them. As long as it stays east they're not evacuating but everyone is planning for disaster, buying up all the bottled water, etc.

I went to get water at walmart last night and couldn't. The line went all the way to the door and they were rationing it.
No water anywhere to be found now.
At least we have the gross city water if we get really hard up.
People are lined up at the gas stations and some are down to premium only, some stations are empty of fuel entirely.
We've got our van fully gassed and it holds around 40 gallons. The subaru as well.
my buses should be ok. they're in a semi-secure location with not much to damage them.
We just had a really horrible sudden death in the family monday, and now we have this to deal with. Shaping up to be a really shitty week here.

I'm sorry to hear about the death in your family... the good news is, it appears the storm is trending to the east... bad for me, but good for you guys... I'm trying to get the kids to leave town in my bus.
Sending hugs!

My parents live in west palm and Stuart. I hope your bus makes it through.
