Experience with planting VW bus on top of Skoolie???
I have gotten my hands on a 1979 VW Westfalia Camper to superimpose upon my 1979 Blue Bird. They were meant to be together...now I am just trying to get some advice from people who have some experience (or clever ideas) with this sort of project.
I have seen one in person and many pictures of this. Some people I've talked to have done a poor job installing the bus and so I want to get it right the first time. My ideas thus far: Cut the VW horizontally at the wheel wells, and once I get it on the roof, take 12" angled sheet metal and place the VW on the joint so the vertical sheet is bolted to the inside and the sheet laying on the top of the bus is then welded and sealed.
These are speculative plans so any ideas would be great!

Hey, I don’t know if you have already finished this project, but I did just do this myself. If you have any questions, or want to reach out and hear what I learned along the way, I’d be happy to talk more!

Regardless those are still cool photos! Do you have build-process photos to - maybe start an after-the-fact build thread?

With the cost of air cooled VW busses today vs 2008, probably not as many are being "sacrificed" for such a project.
The availability of other makes of vans for grafting onto a bus is pretty good, but don't really have the intrigue as the venerable VW.

Alright, when I get some time, I’ll post pictures, and thoughts from the build!
Thanks for the support y’all😀
There are still a few junky, bottom rusty, type 2s out there. They make better tops than road cars. If your dreaming, don’t stop just yet. I paid for mine, but not lots.
