Getting roof A/C unit on top of the bus

I have a much bigger hood on my school bus than you do on your shuttle, but I was able to enlist the help of one friend and we lifted the AC onto the hood, then we both climbed up on the hood and lifted it from there onto the roof. You just need to find some intermediary platform to set it on, like another vehicle or something. You might need two A-frame ladders to get the job done. The AC is manageable for 2 men of average strength, so long as you have good positioning.

If you have a equipment rental business near you, there is a tool called a genie lift which you can rent for about $50-$75 day. It is used to lift duct work, a/c units in buildings, but you might be able to lift your a/c on top of the bus. They are a manual roll around lift which will lift from the ground to about 16'. They have two sizes one can life about 500 lbs, larger one can lift about 750 pounds. I used one to lift my car lift from the ground to vertical without breaking a sweat.

2 8' step ladders and a 2x12, set it up on the board, then 2 of you get up there and lift it up to the top. really easy, although I did climb ladders for a living for 28 years........

I did it the way bapos said. Parked my truck next to the bus and with a friends help, slid it up on the roof...not the most professional way of doing it but it worked. Would not reccomend doing it this way though if you have nice paint up there. I put mine up before paint so it didn't matter about scratches.
