Re: heated mirror controler

Looks like a Bosch relay to me. Have you traced the wires? Put a test light on it before and after you turn on the heated mirrors and see if it lights up.

Re: heated mirror controler

Its just a relay which would supply "high amp power" to something...what ever it was suppling "wanted" more amps than the wire would carry....that's why its been over heated (from picture)
I have retro fitted several power mirros and heated mirrors over the years.
Using relays saves wire size etc. From the high amps needed from the "device"
Say your mirros had a 120 watt eleent you need to "switch" 10 amps no worries if switch was good for 20 amps(safe side of needs)
If the mirrors had a larger draw the incoming wire would need to be bigger to supply the amps needed...which could burn up or melt a switch,
So you use a 40 amp relay to supply 40 amps to the source(mirrors) you could "activate" said relay with a couple amps (actually less than 1 amp)
And it would turn relay on...at that point power would come and go thru the relay up to 40 amps if wires in/out of relay could handle it
...a hate a phone for editing crap....I will give more info if needed 2morrow on a real computer

Re: heated mirror controler

I don't think the wires are burnt.
