Help: Rivet - Factory Blind Rivet
I need the actual rivet that the busses came from the factory with. I need to redo some areas and want to use the structural stuff. Does anyone have the part number or what they are called. I thought they were Monel but couldn't find Monel for steel application.
Thanks

The manufacturer of your bus SHOULD be able to give you the rivet info.

Update: Found the correct stuff on www.boltdepot.com. What you want is an Interlock(structural) Dome head rivet, Zinc plated steel mandrel

Don't know that they actually used the zinc plated? The plating actually crushes as the rivet is pressed and still leaves you with black steel that the rivet it made of originally.
Not saying it won't work but paint isn't going to stay on the galvanized for very long.
Wipe it with vinegar and you can get 5-6 years(guestimation) without it 1 but that's about the same as a true steel rivet without a good primer and coat of paint.
Just an opinion?
Good luck

I am going to scuff the area with a scotch brite pad anyway, so primer should stick well

They make a special primer for galvanized surfaces. It even comes in a spray can. It's supposed to stop the paint from pealing. I'll let you know if it works in 5 or 6 years.

Pricey little buggers aren't they. You could easily go through $100 worth of rivets in no time.

Yeap. I am using them in addition to glue for the side skin. I raised my roof so need them for endcaps as well.

Those are a pretty good price. Half the strength of the ones I listed, but it probably won't ever matter.
