hot air compressor lines?

is it acceptable that my air brake lines are hothot to the touch?

Compressing air makes heat. Heck, that's how diesel engines fire. So yes, it is acceptable. I have actually read about people making intercoolers for their home air compressors with great results. It takes more time to build air, but you cram more volume in the tank at a given pressure.

if you have an electric air compressor out in your garage, if there's not a plastic guard over the compressor you should try and put your hand on top of it after you've filled the tank from 0 to 120 psi...it's HOT!!!
