Could be the radiator. Could be fan malfunction. What type of fan system do you have? Hydraulic? Electric? Was the fan spinning fast when the temp was high?

looks like hydraulic. was never spinning very fast. actually after that run it looked as though my coolant overflow was mirky. head gasket? sure hope nor. kina looked like oil and water mixing. would a local mechancic be able to analyze a sample of coolant?

If its murky, the radiator could be clogged. I would think any mechanic that has coolant testing equipment could easily do a test for oil in the coolant. Just because its murky does not mean there is oil in it.

I would start with a complete coolant flush. I believe if the temp was pretty high, the fan should be running full blast.

AH yes the rear engine heating issue. We know it well. My advise, first find a pressure washer, and blast the heck out of the radiator. Next do a coolant flush and fill, next get a thermostat... they are a pain to seal. Get all new gaskets. I had the same issues with my international- all better now. Just took a while finding the problem.
