It's just under the deck, but still works great in summer. There is one on each side of the bus. Some day I think I will use do a similar setup but with either a 6 or 8 inch sewer main pipe (cheaper then water main, but still sealed) in a horseshoe on the roof.
WOW! THat looks awesome! Your friend had a great idea! We are going to be full timing in the rv while we travel around the US looking for some land to start building on...so the Skoolie will be our home full time. I really like the PVC pipe option...maybe have that and the back up water heater (electric running off a solar panel or propane) for when we decide to park at a rv spot. I just wanted to be sure we could (two kids, two adults) each take a shower when we were boondocking IF not taking a whore bath...lol

On the RAGBRAI bus, the 4" pvc pipe is its only water storage. The only thing in the bus that uses water is a shower. No Toilet. The two things I've always like about it was free heated water, and no water pump needed. It only gravity feeds to the shower. Someday if I ever get to it, I think I would run a line from the top pvc to the hot water heater and put a valve in to isolate from the water pump. That way your solar pipes are for hot water only, and if you need to add in some cooler water for say a shower, the pump could still add cooler water in at the same time. Also, I would like to valve it and be able to fill the top pvc pipes from the "city" fill. So you woudn't have to climb to the top of the bus everytime to fill the pipes.

i was kind of wondering that myself. perhaps due to the quantity and type of work, they need a much longer, more thorough, cleansing, bathing experience

Think "pits and privates". What you can do in 10 seconds with a washcloth.

Taskswap, you forgot the generous dose of perfume as well. As to solar use I found
a great web site with a tremendous amount of information on solar and other information that can be adapted to RV use it's at builditsolar.com, they even have a
plan for a minature evaporative A/C system that runs on 12volt.

Lol, It is where you just use a rag and soap and water from a bucket. Or baby wipes. Maybe I got the saying from my dad who worked in the oil field or my hub who was a grunt in the army...LOL

When I first say "whore bath" my thoughts immediately went to what Hubby & I may do some nights after a long, busy day.

We just wash the "smelly parts" and call it a night.
