How much?

1990 flat nose blue bird v6 cummins deisel AT 117k miles. Guy is asking 6500, has removed all but 3 rows of seats and has it registered as a camper. It's been for sale for at least a year and he says he's open to offers. How much is it worth?

I am assuming you mean it has a straight 6 Cummins 5.9 or 8.3? Most likely a 5.9. $6500 sounds like a lot unless it comes with a bunch of conversion stuff. How long has the bus been parked? Is the rubber good? How many miles on the engine, tranny? Also if you want to go highway speeds what is the rear end ratio? You did not mention if it has any rust. If it is an All American model with a Cummins 8.3 and a MT-643 tranny with no rust and excellent rubber it may be worth $6500

You might want to look on Ebay and see what is near you. Also check EsurplusAuction.com as well as Greg Archambault

1. Drive it. I don't know a lot about buses, but many have problems with speed on the highway. better to know now as it costs a lot of $$$ to regear.

2. $6500 is a lot, it needs to drive really well and have good rubber.

3. Does it have any conversion stuff. Seats aren't too tough to take out, just 1 full day of cussing and most of your knuckle skin, so don't let that sway you too much.

4. If it has been for sale for a year, he is probably aching to get rid of it. I'd imagine his wife is also. Offer $3500 and see where it gets you.

Engine: CAT 3208 NA
Seems pretty expensive to me. My 1989 Thomas w/ CAT 3208 was $2000 from eBay and sells for about $4000 at Used-bus.com, TC2000s of the same vintage are comparable.

Greg has a CAT 3208 All Americam on his site right now for $3500 FOB Ohio, see => http://flbus.tripod.com/

The All American is consider a better built bus then the cheaper TC2000.

You could do a lot of work to a $2,500 bus for the extra $4,000.

I paid $1,850 for my 91 BlueBird TC2000 with a cummins 5.9L straight 6 and 158,000 miles on it. - it was traded in from a school district with all the seats still in it. I got it from woodland international in Grand Rapids, MI. $6500 seems way high to me.
