Cornered one in the kitchen during a remodel and the only thing close at hand was a shop vac. He didn't survive the ordeal. I could hear him being sucked down the hose. The wife was not happy with my quick thinking.

The deer mice I deal with are as cute as a bug's ear.

It's a shame though, their tragic deaths in my traps. But it seems that there are always more of them.

I had a large mouse infestation in my first bus. I bought a dozen mint plants and put them all over the place inside the bus. I never heard or saw another mouse after the first few days, plus a had pretty plants and a nice smell!

In my trailer I use cotton balls soaked in vinegar and peppermint oil. The oil messes with their olafactory senses. Put them in all the cabinets etc...

I have had great success with dryer sheets placed EVERYWHERE when we are not occupying our place, which is 11 months of the year. There is a definitive lack of scat not 100% but the place smells a lot better when we return too.

The best year was when we had a lynx living out behind the place, NO MICE! Alas the lynx moved on the next year, so a motivated domestic version is probably better.

Try some Sweet n Low. Put it out in something like babyfood jar lids. Aspartame is a neurotoxin and rodents cannot handle it. This is what my exterminator told me to use.

Many panty hose with moth balls in it placed throughout. Works every time

Pets? Heck, after soaking all night in peanut oil they are ready for deep fryin'!

I took the passenger seat out of my Nissan 4×4 King Cab pickup and put in a bean-bag; I am just short enough to sleep there. The carpet is 2-piece; one front, one back.

I lifted the overlay once to find a mama mouse with a new-born (hairless, eyes closed) litter in the corner. I am just too soft....I covered them back up. But I made sure she knew I was watching her, and gave her a good close stare 2 times a day for the next 2-3 days. As soon as her babies were mature enough, she took them all out. Never saw her again...

We never see mice here at my mom's house in GA. I think I remember that the mouse jumped in whilst I was in the parked woods....

But when I start finding droppings in my bus, peanut oil looks great. I use a dribble of honey in a deep jar to catch the roaches in my vehicles. They die in their own waste by morning....
