This reciprocity, and all of the laws that you referenced, are related to REGISTERING a vehicle. They say that you do not have to REGISTER a vehicle in California if you are out of state. These laws do not say anything about operating a vehicle.

IdahoJoe87 quoted the Idaho law that says

"When any school bus is sold and is no longer to be used for the transportation of pupils, before it may again be used on the highways of this state it shall be painted a color other than national school bus glossy yellow, federal standard 595a, color number 13432, and all school bus markings shall be obliterated."

That is not about registering a vehicle. That pertains to operating an ex-school bus in the state. It has nothing to do with where a bus is registered. There is no reciprocity.

The law does not state " UNLESS it is from a state that allows it" It says have to repaint it before you drive it in the state.

No I saw some full on F-bombing the other day. But when I try to curse or even use all caps the forum software edits it out.

No.
So the first law, they will just ask me to turn them off?

The second law I can ignore?

The third law I do have to follow?

So relating back to the subject at hand the Texas law as it pertains to vehicles that used to be school busses:

"Sec. 547.005. OFFENSE RELATING TO VIOLATION OF SPECIAL-USE PROVISIONS.

(b) A person may not operate a motor vehicle bearing the words "school bus" unless the vehicle is used primarily to transport persons to or from school or a school-related activity."

So even though this law says a person can't drive a vehicle with the words "school bus" on them, that law does not apply to me because in Colorado I am allowed to drive a bus that says "school bus". That is ridiculous.
