Is there a right way to remove a stop sign?

Ok, I have a completely electronic flip out stop sign. With the bus ignition off the sign will still return with power. That means i got constantly hot power feeds to this thing. All the wires enter the bus below the switch panel access. There are also wires feeding two blinking red lights mounted on the sign. I can not find the wire bus that feeds this system. Can someone give me some ideas of how to properly remove this flippin sign?

Re: Is there a right way to remove a stop sign?

are you afraid that you're gonna short out the power wire? Tracking it down doesn't sound like much fun. All 3 buses i've worked on came with auto-resetting circuit breakers, yours probably does too. If your bus has them too, that'll be real handy because if you short out a wire you don't have any fuses to replace. My suggestion is that you cut the wires, then pull them through into the inside of the bus. I'm sure they pass through the bus body through a hole that was simply drilled from outside to inside. If you're really worried about a short, then disconnect the negative battery terminal when you do this and you'll have zero chance of causing any sparks. the wires are perfectly safe to handle by hand, you can touch 12 volts with bare hands. You may have to physically remove the stop sign to see the hole the wires pass through.

My stop sign was the same as yours. I just removed the stop sign and clipped the wires. It worked fine. I still have my stop sign thinking that I will come up with some use for the motor. Haven't thought of anything yet though.
