Question Is this 2005 IC worth it?

I'm in that "over research, reading everything" pre-buying phase

My goal is to have a mechanically well running bus and doing the inside build out with my 3 young sons as a "spend time together" project. While I've worked on plenty of vehicles growing up, I'd rather not wrestle with it too often on a full sized bus.

We'll take the adventure bus for 3-4 weeks over the summer and travel around mostly the Northeast.

An hour away, I've been in conversation with a bus owner that has listed a 2005 IC Model: CE300 Full size school bus. 66/44. It looks nice, runs well, and has minimal rust underneath.

It has a DT466(e I assume) and an allison transmission but they don't know what model trans.

It was purchased from a dealer for his skoolie project. The interior has all been removed (including walls/ceiling) and cleaned up over the last year. The windows have been resealed. Life through them a curve ball and it's listed now for a firm $5900

Is this price in the right range for the year/quality?

Thank you!!

PS. Bonus 2nd questions: how do I get this bus an hour home?? I know in NYS they offer intrastate transport tags, but I believe you have to register the bus first and I want to do the conversion first...

Personally, I would avoid any '05 just because of all the EPA/emissions garbage that was stuck on the motor. It began about '04 and the first few years were especially horrible. And knowing the specific model of Allison is very important. They are all good trannies but the AT545's are rapidly becoming dinosaurs that most people swap out for something with lockup and more gears.

Thank you Tango! When I go look at the bus again, is there any tricks to identify which trans it has in it?

There is a data tag on the side of the trans. You're still interested after knowing the potential hazards of 05 and newer buses?
