Is this bus for us?

I'm new to this forum and the skoolie world in general. A group of friends and I are planning a cross country trip this year to include a bus and motorcycles. Most importantly we need as much space as possible as we will be using the bus for half rv and half motorcycle trailer. Our budget for the bus itself (before conversion) is about $2000. We have an opportunity to buy a 1990 International with a DT360 and auto Allison trans. It's a 72 passenger with 138k miles, hydraulic brakes, no A/C and tach doesn't work. Obviously from everything I've read on here the DT466 would be better, but everything I've come across with the DT466 has been out of our price range. We have a couple months before we would NEED to get to work on this thing. Will this bus suit our needs? Is it realistic for us to hold out for something with a DT466 for $2000? Any info, input, ideas, 2 cents, etc would be appreciated. Thanks for the help and for all the great info on this site.
