Many of those are the exact reason that it is harder to get insurance on skoolies.

Can you imagine the reaction of the insurance agent if they had to personally inspect these units? Or what about LEOs? Certainly takes the "stealth" aspect out of the equation!

My experience is that if you reregister the schoolbus as a motorhome, no problem in getting insurance. Not saying it is easy to get to the point where you can be inspected and retitled or getting insurance to drive it home but once that hoop has been jumped through, no problemo.

We had a licensed VIN inspector meet us and inspect our bus where we bought it and we threw a blow up bed and a compost toilet and a Coleman folding camp kitchen and a 12 volt cooler and BAM he took our $250. 00 inspection fee and signed documents stating it was a motor home. It had already had the seats removed. Then down to AAA to reregister it as a motorhome and then a call to our insurance agent and we were insured for the ride home.

Our experience at least, do not know if your state has licensed VIN inspectors but ours does.
