Lets see some TV mounting ideas!
I would love to get some ideas on how people are mounting tv's, and where. What are you using for brackets? Are they holding up to bumps?
I was thinking of putting one above the windshield next to the rear view mirror. But I really don't want to block the sign access door up top.

All the entertainer coaches i've been in they are mounted solid in an entertainment center type setting. I've never seen an issue.

Re: Lets see some TV mounting ideas!
We're going to hinge a panel to the bulkhead above the windshield to attach a flat panel LCD TV on it. the panel will be able to swing up out of the way when traveling. The cubby in the bulkhead will hold some of the electronic gear. In the rear bedroom, I will mount our current TV (Flat LCD) to the side of the closet and have it for watching TV and to use as a monitor for my computer (my current monitor is trying to die).

Smitty, I was thinking about a mount similar to what you have. Is that a RV style?
Where did you source that?

Re: Lets see some TV mounting ideas!
You can buy them from Wally World. DO NOT get that one that swings out from the wall, pivots and tilts. I have that one. I can never get it to lock down. Now I just screwed big cup hooks in to the wall and use bungie cords to hold the TV close to the wall when traveling. Make sure you have something solid to attach the mounts to... not just paneling.

Re: Lets see some TV mounting ideas!
heres my plan for tv mounting
gonna put a 3/4 stained piece of plywood over a window
before I bolt it to the uprights I am gonna install a tv mount that I saw on Trademarkcommerce.com
holds 19-22" tv gonna have 2 of them one on each side.
it comes out from the wall and turns like 35 degrees side to side
that way I can put it flat against the wall or pull away and turn it while going down the road
Item#: 72-2740 on the site

Re: Lets see some TV mounting ideas!
That's the same design as the one I have in the RV.

Thanks for that tip Lorna. I was thinking about getting one of those, but now will reconsider. I wanted to house it in a cabinet and then swing it out to face different possible directions depending on where people are sitting. But I want to use it during travel (for the kids) and was definitely concerned about the stability of the swing arm. I'll have to come up with another solution...

I bet you could just modify a swing out one to use a small steering damper:
to keep the TV from swinging around while driving...[/quote:152sf3vg]
If you did this you would have to make some kind of quick release, maybe just a nut and bolt, you wouldnt be able to swing it with that on there.

Re: Lets see some TV mounting ideas!
I have a wally world swing-arm over my desk on the (19"??) monitor on my PC. If it were bolted to something sturdy, I wouldn't be afraid to use it, depending on weight, to secure a screen up to about 30" when in motion. I probably would put a pair of footman's loops (even the guys at ACE hardware don't remember these) behind the monitor. I would swing it flat and bungee it to the loops to keep it from moving around. With a little ingenuity, it might be possible to install flat plates between the pivoting sections with holes that would accept stabilizing pins instead.
I think the monitor and arm can lift off the wall post if a set-screw is removed, but I haven't investigated this.
The good news is that there is standard machine screw spacing in the flat screen TV/monitor industry, so there are dozens to hundreds of different mounts to choose from. Mine was just (relatively) inexpensive and easily available.

Re: Lets see some TV mounting ideas!
Thanks Pied Typer and Redbear for those ideas. My plan is to have the TV swing out at the front of the bunk beds and be able to face either forward or backwards so it can be watched from the bunk room or the living room. I think a quick and easy solution for me is two eye bolts attached high on the bunks and bungee cords to stabilize and help support the weight.

.. just about anything you can imagine for mounting a TV/Monitor .. I'm not affiliated with them in any way (no spam alert) .. just a darn good source for mounts and/or ideas ..
.. this one is my preference .. it has a safety lock feature .. http://www.jensenmarinedirect.com/flat- ... n-138.html
.. to many years as a paramedic and a stint living on sailboats tends to make me think about how things react in a crash (or rolling seas) ..
