I agree with djontz, diesels rock! Better fuel economy, low end torque, and simplicity of design. Fewer things to go wrong makes for easier trouble-shooting: it's always a fuel supply problem!

In my case, I am only interested in a diesel unit, I would specifically look for the DT466, or the 5.9 cummins. The cummins appeals to me because of parts availability, and the wealth of knowledge around regarding it's use, and upgrades.
