Lowering your skoolie

So I have a design idea but it requires me to lower the bus so I can do a bigger roof raise, was wondering if anyone has ever done this? I know the city busses have lowering capabilities for letting some of the physically disabled and the elderly to allow access on and off, was thinking if I couldn’t find one of those busses within my miens then maybe I’d try and lower a skoolie. Thank you I’m advance for any information

On some straight axle vehicles you can remove the axle and move it above the leaf springs to lower it.

depending on the bus you buy (if you havent bought yet).. you may be able to find one like my red one which has small wheels tires.. the resut was for a bus that could accomodate elementary kids.. you can gain yourself probably 6 inches or so that way.. (may require re-gearing to maintain driveability) and obviously you can go too small on a heavy chassis.. there are lower profile tires available with weight ratings for heavy busses.. low profile 11R's you can gain yourself a few inches on the same rims.. again will affect final drive ratio..

rear air-ride equipped bsses you cn usually safely drop your rear by an inch or 2..

how much of a roof raise are you doing? some have done 2 ft roof raises on full size ormal height chassis.. my carpenter bus is a 78" headroom stock sitting on 11R22.5 tires and it is just a little over 10'6" tall so you could put 2 feet on top of that and still be under the 13' mark allowing you to drive on most roads unless specifically marked as low clearance..
