MAREY Tankless Water Heater
I just received my MAREY Tankless Water Heater off EvilBay today. Runs off propane, one of those auto-ignition heaters. I have one of those Coleman water heaters, and it works great. So I thought I would try this thing out as something more permanent source of hot water.
Does anyone have one that can share some info??
While I'm excited about the new toy, it will probably be a few weeks before I get to implement it into the layout permanently.

Hmmmm.... I like the idea of the 2400/3000 Watt electric one. They say it requires a 4000 W generator,
but at the 2400 W setting it might work with my Honda EU3000. I'd consider having that as a
backup to the solar -- for when somebody (cute and female) refuses to shower (with me)
until she gets more heat (in the water). Thoughts (on the water heater ) ?

Wonder how much juice this would use on a solar powered bus? I haven't ordered the solar kit for FV (yet) but I do need an idea of how much power I'm gonna need. I considere the tankless a great idea for space saving.

Elliott, I'm sure she would be happy to take a shower with you after you make her use a cold stream or a garden hose a couple of times.

COma, please let us know how you make out with this Marey heather. I was looking at the LP gas ones.
Let us know once you had your first shower. Is it worth buying? Is installation easy enough, are the connectors compatible with what you can get at home depot or such?
Thanks for testing the unit for us.

Re: MAREY Tankless Water Heater
Sorry, people. I haven't received any notifications of replies to this post. I'm not ignoring you. I've been quite busy.
First: D*MN!! is this slow now!!!! Second: Venting is required through a flue pipe. I'll take pictures. It's fairly thin, so my first thoughts have been to just mount it to the outside back of the bus. Third: With that said, I obviously haven't hooked it up yet.
Seems my skoolie project goes wide open for a few weeks, then drops off for a couple months. It's due to start back up soon in preparation for the next Bristol Race.

Re: MAREY Tankless Water Heater
I'm actualy involved in the install now. Trying to figure exactly where I'm gonna mount it. I bought a forklift LP tank with plans to mount underneath. Not sure if I need a regulator for the gas or not.
A group of friends and I go to the NASCAR race at Bristol twice a year. It's coming up in about 3 weeks, so I really need to get moving with some projects. The race weekend is always my motivator to get stuff done.

Re: MAREY Tankless Water Heater
thanks for those links, now I know for sure I don't wanna buy one.
http://www.tanklesshq.com/marey-gas-owners-manual.pdf
from the installation manual
Quote:
The total height of exhaust pipe should be more then 2.3 meters (92") and the horizontal length shall not exceed 3 (120")meters. There shall be a vertical ascending flue pipe and the hole should not be less then 250mm (10") above the exhaust pipe cover. The gap between the flue pipe and the hole should not be filled with cement, otherwise repairing would become difficult.
|
I do not have enough room to install a 2.3 meter long exhaust pipe, my buses inside height in the center is only 1.8 meters and the heater would be mounted on the outside wall close to the roof height, so to comply I would have to install about a 2 meter piece of flue pipe sticking up above my roof. Thats going to look funny.

Re: MAREY Tankless Water Heater
Has anything new developed on this topic. We are particularly interested in nthe need for regulators etc. in the gas system for a LPG Marey or similar make heater? How are people who use them finding them working and has anyone had any issues/problems so far?

Re: MAREY Tankless Water Heater
Come in the summer time. There are parts of Canada that get hotter than most of California in the summer time. Any time between November and March though and ya better pack your snow shoes.
