moisture problems and drivetrain preferences

Sorry, I copied from my earlier post I made on an incorrect forum -

1st off, I am a newbie here... but have had 2 converted commercial coaches. One in the process now.

Anyway - I am now looking at a "skoolie" for my next project. The bus will be a vacation home and possibly do a couple cross country runs.

Since I am now 64 I would not like to tear apart and reinsulate anything if possible. This would be fair weather bus. So, my concern is moisture buildup inside the bus. I've had to rip out and completely and replace walls in an MCI due to interior wall rust. Don't want to do it again. I am looking for options to keep the moisture under control... let me have it.

Drivetrain - I hear I should stay away from the Cats... what should I be looking for? Cummings, DD... what configuration - FE, RE ??? trans?

thanks - bob

Try to stay away from an AT545; its only a 4 speed. Navistar powerplants are also plentiful in school buses, more so than DDs. Also stay away from Mercedes diesels usually in Thomas/Freightliner chassis- expensive to repair and maintain, like all thinks MB.

Hey! That's not an RV, that's a school bus.
