Multiple batteries in DT466e

Good evening everyone,

I am trying to figure out how many batteries the bus is supposed to have, and how they are wired.

It is not really that important yet because it starts and runs fine on one battery now. The reasoning for the question is that it looks like the bus is meant for 2-3 batteries based on the size of the compartment.



That is what we are working with now. I think the positive line that is not connected to anything is for the wheelchair ramp; which has been removed.

I want to put two batteries at least in the bus for this reason.



This is a portable welder made by ready welder. It's the military model and is supposed to be pretty nice.
It should be able to weld 3/4" steel using only two 12v batteries.


If there was a way to just hook it up to the bus to weld all of the holes and new floor panels; it would be great!


It's a 97 international DT466e with a Thomas body. I am sorry my profile is not yet up to date.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I am a Dt466e owner.

I have 2 batteries in parallel, and a 3rd as a backup. They came with the bus, but if I were to replace them I would likely keep the same setup, or just do 2 (in parallel) and use the third battery space for something else, like tools or maybe the solar battery if I go that route.

For welding I understand that two batteries will work, but three produces the best result and lasts a little longer. People emergency stick welded using jumper cables successfully.

I've never seen the wire feeder setup. I'd like to see that thing work.
