Eagles aren't German. They were made in Brussels, Belgium and Brownsville, TX. Our Eagle was made in Brussels. Couldn't get past the rust. I sure do miss the basement in that thing. The Blue Bird has a little Eagle in it... We salvaged the wiring harness out of the Eagle before we scrapped it. Used it for running the DC and AC the wiring in the Blue Bird. David had pulled the alternator (it had a DC side and an AC side) but it was forgotten in NC. David later said he didn't know where he could squeeze the monster into the Blue Bird so I guess it was okay to have forgotten it. But if it's still in the shed at my mom's, I'm gonna grab the thing. Just in case.

Neither German nor French. Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot was always upset to be called "French" although, like many Belgiums, he spoke French. Dutch (not German) being the other language of the country. To call anything Belgium "German" could be perceived as an insult. The German invasion of Belgium is what drew England into WW1 (WW2 was the Nazi's and they invaded Belgium again). You may like to read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rape_of_Belgium.

Wikipedia says that Eagles were built in Germany early on.
I also can tell you that 55% of people in Belgium prefer to be called Flemish.
I didnt cross the border but did travel the southern parts of the Netherlands.
