that was fun day... alas why I think elliot should have all the people availabe in an area around a roof raising.. sure theres work to be done but the social and learning aspect of it was the tops!

"Many hands make light work"
I don't know how practical it would be but I kind of like the idea of pulling together a "crew" and hitting these roof raises with 5-6 people traveling the country.
I can day dream.....

I'd love to, at least, hold the lights, tools, and/or beverages, for a raise in or around Houston area. Hell, I bet I can even turn a screw or two, and I know I can used some power tools. Don't plan on doing one my future ride, but always enjoy trying to learn something, and visiting good folks. July and August wouldn't be my 1st choice, but if that's what it takes, I'm in.

ECCB - how many were there at your raising that day? 6 or 7? seemed like the perfect number.. you had dave calling the shots on what to turn and weld and the rest of us as helping hands.. and you calling how far up you wanted to go and making sure everyone was in sync. it seemed like the combo worked well.. if you only have 2 or 3 it can be done but would take a lot longer and no one to hold things at times a couple sets of hands were needed to weld those bars in.
plus your prep work ahead of time having the metal pieces made rather than having to fab them all as the roof was raised. and dave with you scheming out the plan..
of course if you assemble a travelling team part of it could be having parts made and prep work done before the team arrived.. ie the bus should be stripped on the inside, outside, all windows removed, etc before the team would arrive as thats things the owners can do ahead.

I'm down for it. I'm most of the way there to having a bus that can build a bus, and my roof raise went smooth as butter.

Quickly.... There will be no roof-raising tour by me.
A nice idea, but not realistic.
More later... as I am still unpacking from Burning Man -- three buses and two trailers full.

Its WAY easier than it sounds. But yeah, hard to do alone. Not impossible, but I couldn't do one without some help.
I'd be glad to help out anyone in FL with a bus and a place to keep it.

EastCoastCB-I traded my boat for a 1974 Prevost Prestige a couple of months ago. It's in Geneva/Sanford, FL right now. I bought it from a mechanic and he's letting me work on it at his shop for the next few months. It's a big project and I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment. However, raising the roof is one of the many things I want to do. I would be happy to pay for your help!
