Re: Phantom loads

turn everything in the bus off, disconnect 1 battery terminal, watch closely for a spark, if no spark check with a voa meter for amperage between the battery and cable end, their should be no current draw, if their is no current draw make sure that the batteries are clean and dry, dirt and moisture on the batteries can allow current to flow and effectively act as a load to discharge the batteries. if the meter shows a discharge/amperage flow, check the charging/alternater circuit to make sure that the alternater isn't trying to motor the engine, check for amperage at the battery terminal on the alt. their should be none, if their is start looking for a diode in the charge circuit, sometimes found in the chassis fusebox, it should only allow current to flow from the alt. to the battery, if that doesn't cure the problem, start removing fuses until you locate the offending circuit and then chase that circuit to the problem.

Re: Phantom loads

An apparently little known secret is to install a battery isolation switch on your battery, when you ain't run'n it you open the switch. One of the first things to install in your bus.
